Island Lake is another great winter Kiteboarding Location. The wind isn’t quite as good as Rice Lake but is still a good spot and has some advantages over Rice Lake. The main benefit of Island Lake in northern Minnesota is the parking and accessibility. We park on the causeway going across the lake and ride any wind direction from there. There are also quite a few small islands that provide a slight bit of terrain to have some fun with!
