Time to hit the water! This water based kiteboarding lesson is for students who have completed our kiteboarding Ground School. If you have comparable experience this requirement will be waived. This kiteboarding lesson runs for 4 hours and covers what you need to know to fly a bigger kite on the water. For this kiteboarding lesson we will start on the beach with some basics about kite setup, safety systems, how kites work (aerodynamics), and how to fly them in a safe manner. After the initial overview, we will head out on the water to cover launching, landing, safety releases, and self rescue. Once you have these primary procedures and control of the kite nailed down we will do some body drags through the water. Students typically get the hang of flying the bigger kites quickly, and will end their first water kiteboarding lesson doing board starts and getting some rides across the water. Cost:Option 1 $300 for a private 1 on 1 kiteboarding lesson Option 2 $280 per student for a semi private kiteboarding lesson (first hour is done as a group) To sign up for Kiteboarding Lessons in Minnesota or Wisconsin send us an email. This kiteboarding lesson needs to be done on a big lake with a shallow sandbar. Lakes in the twin cities are far too gusty and crowded and don't work well for beginners. All kiteboarding schools use the biggest lakes to teach beginner kiteboarding lessons, so no matter where you live you will probably have to travel to take your water based kiteboarding lessons. Once you have the sport nailed down you will be able to safely utilize smaller lakes closer to where you live. Superior Kiteboarding School utilizes three locations to provide kiteboarding lessons to people in Minnesota, Wisconsin, the eastern parts of North and South Dakota and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. For people living in Minnesota or eastern North and South Dakota we use Mille Lacs Lake and Lake Winnibigoshish in Minnesota. For people living in central and northern Wisconsin and the Upper peninsula of Michigan, we also teach water kiteboarding lessons in the Chequamegon bay near Ashland WI, and the Apostle Islands All the kiteboarding gear needed for the summer kiteboarding lessons (kites, boards, harnesses, helmets, and PFDs) will be provided by your instructor. We actually recommend you wait until you finish your kiteboarding lessons before purchasing any gear. For more information on purchasing gear check out the buying kiteboarding gear page.
