Kiteboarding lesson Scheduling Information

Why we use a specialized schedule for kiteboarding and Kitesurfing Lessons

Trying to use a normal predetermined schedule leads other kiteboarding schools to charge you if there is no wind on the day of your lesson, or if you need to cancel your lesson. At superior Kiteboarding School we use a specialized schedule that allows us to charge you for a lesson if and only if the lesson takes place and is completed.

We admit our scheduling system for kiteboarding and kitesurfing lessons is a little funky, but it allows for efficiency and fairness for both the students and Superior Kiteboarding School. Our scheduling system also allows us NOT to charge you if you need to cancel your kiteboarding or kitesurfing lessons. With kiteboarding lessons we always have someone chomping at the bit to get out and would love to take your lesson slot! We understand things come up, If you need to cancel we just ask that you inform us ASAP so we can give another student a chance to take your lesson slot. If another school gives you a specific date for your kiteboarding lessons, make sure you ask what you have to pay if there ends up being no wind that day!

Lessons are tricky to schedule when you are relying on the weather. Dependence on the weather makes it virtually impossible to schedule a kiteboarding lesson on any particular date more than a week in advance.

To do a beginner kiteboarding lesson the wind speed has to be at least 10mph and we don't want anything over 25mph. The wind doesn't blow in between these two numbers every day of the week in Minnesota; we typically get wind in that range anywhere from 2-5 days a week. It is very hard to know if it will be windy on any particular day more than a week in advance, for this reason we don't feel right telling anyone they can take a lesson on a particular day that is more than a week away. At Superior Kiteboarding School we have developed a scheduling system that allows us to works around this dilemma.

The kiteboarding and kitesurfing lesson schedule

Let's say right now you are in the #7 position, this doesn't necessarily mean you will be the 7th to get a lesson, you could very well be the first. Lessons are based on your schedule, whatever days of the week work best for you are the days you get placed on the schedule. Most of the time people who can do weekdays get out within 2 weeks of signing up even when schedules are packed. When the forecast is known we go through contacting students in the order they were placed on the schedule until we have students who can get out that day. If you are the #1 spot on the kiteboarding lesson schedule you are essentially on the schedule every day until your lesson needs are met! The next day that the weather coincides with your availability, you get a lesson!

We spend at least an hour or two every day creating a wind forecast for kiteboarding and kitesurfing lessons. We do this so we can inform our students when lessons will probably take place (one week in advance), and will be taking place (1-3 days in advance). We understand that driving out to the lake sucks when the wind doesn't work out, it incurs unneeded costs for students and Superior Kiteboarding school alike. We try our hardest to make sure that doesn't happen, but on the rare occasion when it does happen there is no charge for the day (not always the case with other kiteboarding schools).

Based on your preference for communication we will keep you informed of how many students are in head of you and give you a good idea when your lesson will take place. For the students in the top spots you will get a call, email or text requesting reply of availability for lessons 1 week in advance so we can create a schedule, then we will give you confirmations on how things are looking as we get closer to the lesson date

We will also be utilizing the new "Superior Kiteboarding School" facebook page to keep students up to date on what's going on, so check it out and like us if you are a facebook user!
