White Bear Lake on the northeast side of the twin cities metro area of Minnesota is in our opinion the second best kiteboarding lake in the twin cities area; it is second to Lake Waconia. People ride at this location in any wind direction but be aware of extremely gusty wind on most wind directions. In our opinion the only good wind directions for this lake is southeast, west, or east. The wind must be flowing straight down one of the fingers to get smooth enough wind for your ride to be a good one! Due to gusty winds and small launch areas with limited shallow water we recommend that beginners don’t use this lake.


Superior Kiteboarding School offers winter snowkiting lessons on this lake but we do not offer summer kiteboarding or kitesurfing lessons on White Bear Lake in the twin cities metro area of Minnesota.
